Structure,Mount Angel Library, Alvar Aalto, Oregon, 1972

The library uses a steel frame to support itself. Aalto used columns to organize the spaces and to separate them from others. The library is also on top of a hill so it creates an opportunity to let more light in. Aalto used this advantage to create a skylight that ran across the roof of the building to let in as much light as possible. He also put big windows on the façade of the building facing downhill.
