Spatial Ordering - Andrew Melville Hall, James Stirling (1967)

The spacial ordering of the Andrew Melville Hall is that it is formed by two wings angled in plan that face roughly east out to the north sea. James Stirling also purposely faced the building towards two famous golf courses that can be seen from the area. The angled windows provide aid in emphasizing his intentions for dictating where the views would be, which were towards the golf courses. He designed the landscape around the building to be fairly simple by rolling grass over smooth mounds. He was influenced by passing ships, hence the two horizontal strips of building that jut outward with the mounds acting as waves.
