program, Mount Angel Library, Alvar Aalto, Oregon, 1972

The building is designed so that a person walking inside will feel tight and compressed. As you enter the main space, it opens up to the main library to make the person feel free and relieved. Aalto also understood how it was important for there to be light for people to see and reas the books but also not too much light that its blinding. Thus he put clerestorys I the library and a cone shaped skylight that would let a lot of light in. Leading off of the main area is an auditorium and offices.
