Program- The Free Berlin University
In the original Phase 1 of the University the program was driven by flexibility and evolutivity of space as well as a literal spatial translation of the idea of horizontal communication among students and teachers. Classrooms, departments and facilities were laid out on the grid without any hierarchical organization to give one more importance than the other.
The University's program is made up of auditorium style classrooms around the edges and on all corners with more intimate classrooms and private spaces as you approach the center of the site. However, this private program is challenged by courtyards scattered around the center. The focal point is the newer library building as the focal point. It can be concluded that the spaces become more intimate as you approach the center and the most intimate building is the focal point.
