Program - Alison and Peter Smithson, Robin Hood Gardens 1972

The program consisted of all apartments that stretch horizontally and slightly bent to frame a centralized communal courtyard. the number of apartments within the complex is 213 between the two towers. One tower is ten stories as the the other which is only seven stories to allow maximum light into the courtyard. With in the program the balconies that jut out play a major role within the Robin Hood Gardens as it acted as a view point for the centralized gardens and were wide enough for multiple people to walk and children to play.
