Modernist Intention- 860–880 Lake Shore Drive Apartments, Mies Van Der Rohe

The two buildings were designed to create the illusion of floating by having the raised floor plan. This was possible due to Mies use of modern materials such as steel and concrete. Mies designed the apartments to be able to shift in layout and design depending on the inhabitant with a basic open floor plan to start.
