Modern intentions- Le corbusier, ville Radieuse 1924

Corbusier designed this because he was saying that cities were dying due to their poor design. He said "The city of today is a dying thing because its planning is not in the proportion of geometrical one fourth. The result of a true geometrical lay-out is repetition, The result of repetition is a standard. The perfect form." Thus he made this perfectly gridded and designed city to prove that such a city can exist.

Balanced combination of old and new. The newly constructed bridge that is next to the old both physically and metaphorically represents Scarpa trying to "bridge" the history and the new together. "Visual Logic" is what Scarpa called of the building's different parts, because of its constant sense of fusion between the old and the new.
